OpenFOAM is the leading free, open source software for computational fluid dynamics (CFD). It has a large user base across most areas of engineering and science, from both commercial and academic organisations. OpenFOAM has an extensive range of features to solve anything from complex fluid flows involving chemical reactions, turbulence and heat transfer, to acoustics, solid mechanics and electromagnetics.
HLRS provides a generic web frontend to submit OPENFOAM simulations to our high performance computing cluster.
The jobs will be executed on our Laki cluster equipped with different types of nodes. By default nodes with 2x Intel Xeon X5560 (4 cores each) and 12 GB of memory are used, other nodes are also available at higher prices.
Since we don't offer shared nodes due to security and performance reasons, the minimum accounted resources include 8 cores. The listed price it per core to be comparable and normally larger resources are claimed for simulations.
